Summary
Plex Media Server, a media streaming application, is affected by a server-side request forgery flaw that lets an attacker send requests from the server to any destination they choose. An attacker only needs a valid-format Plex token, which could allow them to reach internal resources or make the server send data to systems under their control.
Summarized by anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5. Verify details against the original sources.

Plex Media Server before 1.43.3.10861 allows SSRF via '/player/timeline'. An attacker using any X-Plex-Token value can include a full URL in the 'protocol' parameter and force the Plex server to POST to the attacker's chosen destination.

What does this mean?
This is a server-side request forgery bug, where the server can be made to send requests to a destination chosen by an attacker. Chained with other steps, the advisory says it allows unauthenticated remote code execution as the plex user.Source: github.com, zmain.info
Am I affected, and how do I check?
Plex Media Server builds before 1.43.3.10861 are in scope, with no earlier version excluded. To check, compare the installed Plex Media Server version number against 1.43.3.10861.Source: github.com, zmain.info
What should I do about it?
Update Plex Media Server to 1.43.3.10861 or later. The advisory says to do this before starting Plex again.Source: github.com, zmain.info
Is it being exploited?
Yes. CISA added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2026-10-20, which means it has evidence of attacks. Public exploit code exists (a proof of concept on GitHub).Source: cisa.gov, cve.now feed data
