Summary

FreeRDP, an open-source Remote Desktop Protocol client library, is affected by this flaw when connecting through a Remote Desktop Gateway. A malicious or compromised gateway can send a specially crafted authentication packet early in the connection, causing the client application to crash and denying the user access to their remote session.

Read the original description

FreeRDP before 3.32.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability where rdg_process_packet dispatches a PKT_TYPE_EXTENDED_AUTH_MSG without verifying negotiated mode or auth context. A malicious or compromised RD Gateway can send the extended-auth packet before tunnel authentication, triggering a null-pointer dereference that crashes the client.
