Summary
Wing FTP Server before 8.2.6 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows authenticated web-client users to inject script by sending a crafted nowpath parameter to webclient/makethumb.html. Attackers can break out of the directory CDATA section in admin_get_lastconn.html XML to forge a connection id, which executes in administrators' browsers when admin_connection_list.html auto-refreshes, enabling Lua console abuse.

Questions about CVE-2026-120491
What does this mean?
A logged-in web client user can inject script through the nowpath value on the Legacy Activity Page. The script runs in administrators' browsers when the admin connection list page auto-refreshes, and it can be used to abuse the Lua console.Source: vulncheck.com, wftpserver.com
Am I affected, and how do I check?
All Wing FTP Server versions before 8.2.6 are listed as affected. To check, look at the version shown in the server's admin interface or installed package; a version lower than 8.2.6 falls in the affected range.Source: vulncheck.com, wftpserver.com
What should I do about it?
Upgrade Wing FTP Server to version 8.2.6 or later, which contains the fix released on 9 October 2026.Source: vulncheck.com, wftpserver.com
Is it being exploited?
It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cve.now feed data
