Read the original description

ShowDoc 2.8.14 before 3.9.6 contains a code injection vulnerability in its Mock feature that allows authenticated users to execute shell commands through mockjs templates. Attackers can store a template via MockController::add with escaped parentheses that mockjs evaluates with eval(), then trigger it through MockController::infoByKey to run commands, as root in the official Docker image.

FAQ

Questions about CVE-2026-120203

What does this mean?

The bug lets an attacker run operating-system commands inside the ShowDoc mock process. In the official image that process runs as root, so the application directory, the SQLite database file and the container network are exposed.Source: gist.github.com

Am I affected, and how do I check?

ShowDoc 2.8.14 through 3.9.5 is affected, but only where the mock service is enabled, which the official full image does by default. Check your installed ShowDoc version and whether the mock service is enabled.Source: gist.github.com

What should I do about it?

Upgrade ShowDoc to 3.9.6 or later, which is the fixed release.Source: gist.github.com

Is it being exploited?

It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cve.now feed data
