Summary

The Graphina plugin for WordPress, which adds charts and graphs to Elementor, contains a stored cross-site scripting flaw in its tree chart widget settings that lets an unauthenticated attacker remotely inject scripts into pages, which then run in the browser of anyone who visits them. The flaw can be reached over the network without logging in, and the attacker's payload is not removed when saved because it contains no disallowed HTML tags.

Read the original description

The Graphina – Charts and Graphs For Elementor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'iq_tree_chart_node_font_family (and any text control serialized into chart_data['settings'])' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.1.13 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Elementor's Utils::kses_post_deep() does not strip the attack payload on save because the payload contains no disallowed HTML tags — only a single quote and an event-handler fragment — allowing the malicious value to survive persistence.
