Summary

SuiteCRM, an open-source customer relationship management application, has a flaw in its V8 JSON:API update path that lets a logged-in user remotely overwrite records they do not own and take over ownership of other users' records. The attack is carried out over the network with low-privilege login and needs no action from another user.

Read the original description

SuiteCRM is an open-source, enterprise-ready Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software application. Prior to 7.15.2 and 8.10.2, the V8 JSON:API update path fails to remove the id attribute before assigning user-supplied attributes to a SugarBean. The affected flow begins at updateRecord() and uses processAttributes(), id, and ACL_ALLOW_OWNER to carry attacker-controlled data or authorization state into the security-sensitive operation. An authenticated user can substitute a victim record identifier, bypass owner-only authorization, overwrite another record, and hijack record ownership. This issue is fixed in versions 7.15.2 and 8.10.2.

Questions about CVE-2026-100364

Is CVE-2026-100364 being exploited?

It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cve.now feed data

What does this mean?

The V8 JSON:API updateRecord() endpoint does not filter the id attribute, so an authenticated user can inject another user's record ID and overwrite that record. This bypasses owner-only restrictions and hijacks record ownership.Source: github.com

Which versions are affected by CVE-2026-100364?

SuiteCRM: before 7.15.2; from 8.0.0 before 8.10.2.Source: cve.now feed data

Am I affected, and how do I check?

SuiteCRM versions before 7.15.2 and versions 8.0.0 through 8.10.1 are in the affected ranges. The issue concerns the SuiteCRM V8 JSON:API updateRecord() endpoint, so the installed version is the thing to compare against these ranges.Source: github.com

How do I fix CVE-2026-100364?

Upgrade to SuiteCRM 7.15.2 on the 7.x line or to 8.10.2 on the 8.x line, which are the patched versions.Source: github.com
