Questions about CVE-2024-23692
What does this mean?
The server can be made to execute arbitrary code without authentication by tampering with the HTTP Host header. The injected code's output is returned, and the activity can be hidden from log files.Source: vulncheck.com, mohemiv.com
Am I affected, and how do I check?
Releases from the earliest version through 2.3m are in the affected range. The Host header tampering is required for the injection to work, so the installed version number is the main thing to check against this range.Source: vulncheck.com, mohemiv.com
What should I do about it?
Update to HFS 3, which the advisory recommends for all users.Source: vulncheck.com, mohemiv.com
Is it being exploited?
Yes. CISA added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2024-07-09, which means it has evidence of attacks. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cisa.gov, cve.now feed data
