Summary
Control Web Panel (CWP), a web hosting control panel, is affected by this vulnerability. An attacker who can reach its database restore API can inject operating system commands that run with root privileges, giving them full control of the server.
Read the original description
Control Web Panel (CWP) before webpanel_version 1.30 contains an OS command injection vulnerability in the loopback API database restore route /v1/restoredatabase/, where the restoreDBBackup() handler passes an attacker-controlled file path from the POST body into a shell command without proper escaping. An attacker able to reach the route can inject arbitrary OS commands that execute as root.

Questions about CVE-2026-77878
What does this mean?
The restore request does not properly handle a crafted file path, so an attacker who can reach the route can inject operating system commands. Those commands run as root.Source: vulncheck.com
Am I affected, and how do I check?
Control Web Panel (CWP) versions before webpanel_version 1.30 are affected. The exposure depends on the attacker being able to reach the loopback API database restore route, /v1/restoredatabase/. To check a installation, look at the webpanel_version value reported by the panel.Source: vulncheck.com
What should I do about it?
Upgrade Control Web Panel to version 1.30 or later, which contains the fix. The facts provided do not list a workaround.Source: vulncheck.com
Is it being exploited?
It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cve.now feed data
