Summary
Control Web Panel (CWP), a web hosting control panel, is affected by this flaw in its user panel login process. The flaw lets a person with only a valid hosting account bypass authentication and reach restricted functions, which could be chained to gain full root control of the server.
Read the original description
Control Web Panel (CWP) before webpanel_version 1.12 contains an execution after redirect vulnerability in the user panel authentication flow (CWPUserIndex) that allows unauthenticated attackers to bypass authentication by exploiting a missing exit() call after a header('Location: ...') redirect. Attackers can send unauthenticated requests to continue PHP execution past the redirect, reaching user panel functionality that should require authentication.
What to do
Upgrade to a fixed version: 1.12.

Questions about CVE-2026-73696
What does this mean?
An execution-after-redirect flaw in CWPUserIndex can let a request bypass authentication and reach user panel functionality that should require login. The advisory says it enables a pre-authentication chain to root access.Source: vulncheck.com, vulncheck.com
Am I affected, and how do I check?
Control Web Panel versions before webpanel_version 1.12 are in the affected range, but only where the user panel authentication flow (CWPUserIndex) is reachable. To check, look up the installed webpanel_version and whether the user panel login path is exposed on the server.Source: vulncheck.com, vulncheck.com
What should I do about it?
Upgrade to Control Web Panel webpanel_version 1.12 or later, which is the fixed release. The facts provided list no workaround.Source: vulncheck.com, vulncheck.com
Is it being exploited?
It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cve.now feed data
