Summary

The VobSub subtitle decoder in the Amlogic DroidLogic SubTitleService, as shipped on Nexbox A95X TV boxes, can be made to write past the bounds of a fixed memory array. A remote attacker could exploit this to corrupt memory and crash the subtitle process or silently alter its behavior.

Read the original description

The VobSub subtitle decoder libsub_vob (part of the Amlogic DroidLogic SubTitleService), as shipped on Nexbox A95X (Amlogic S905X) TV boxes, contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in vob_fill_pixel() that allows remote attackers to corrupt stack memory by sending a crafted SET_CONTR command with an attacker-controlled alpha value that drives an unbounded array index (change_data) past the end of the fixed four-element PixelDatas array. Attackers can exploit this by sending malicious VobSub data over the unauthenticated tcp/10100 socket or via a malicious .sub file to zero out adjacent stack bytes, resulting in silent stack corruption or process crash.

FAQ

Questions about CVE-2026-119739

What does this mean?

A crafted VobSub subtitle file can make the Amlogic DroidLogic SubTitleService write past the end of a stack buffer while parsing the SET_CONTR field. This can zero the neighbouring stack bytes, silently corrupting memory or crashing the process.Source: vulncheck.com

Am I affected, and how do I check?

The advisory lists the Nexbox A95X (Amlogic S905X) TV box with firmware NEXBOX-A95X-AP6330 or earlier as affected, through the libsub_vob VobSub decoder. To check, look at the firmware build version under the device's system information settings and compare it with NEXBOX-A95X-AP6330.Source: vulncheck.com

What should I do about it?

No fixed version is listed in the checked facts, so no upgrade target can be given. Check the device vendor for a firmware update that is newer than NEXBOX-A95X-AP6330.Source: vulncheck.com

Is it being exploited?

It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.Source: cve.now feed data

What if there's no patch?

No patch is listed in the checked facts. Until one is available, avoid playing VobSub subtitle files through the affected SubTitleService on the device, and watch the vendor for an update.Source: vulncheck.com
