# CVE-2026-124307: Fraunhofer HHI VVdeC before 3.2.1 Heap Use-After-Free via ALF APS Redefinition

- Also known as: EUVD-2026-119279
- Severity: CVSS 5.8 (Medium), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 3.2.1
- Published: 2026-11-07 · Updated: 2026-11-07

CVE-2026-124307 is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. No public exploit code is tracked. It is rated CVSS 5.8 (medium) and affects vvdec; fixed in 3.2.1.

## Summary

Fraunhofer HHI's VVdeC video decoder, before version 3.2.1, contains a memory-corruption bug that a local attacker can trigger without logging in, though it requires a user to take an action such as opening a crafted VVC bitstream. Successful exploitation can crash the decoder or corrupt heap memory when multithreaded decoding is used.

## Affected

- fraunhoferhhi vvdec: fixed in 3.2.1

## Description

Fraunhofer HHI VVdeC before 3.2.1 contains a heap use-after-free vulnerability that allows attackers to corrupt memory by redefining an ALF adaptation parameter set id still referenced by slices. Attackers can supply a crafted VVC bitstream that, with multithreaded decoding, makes worker threads dereference freed APS objects in CABACReader::readAlf() and AdaptiveLoopFilter::reconstructCoeff(), causing crashes or heap corruption.

## What to do
