Summary
DOMPurify, a widely used JavaScript library that sanitizes HTML to prevent cross-site scripting, is affected by this flaw when it is configured to parse content as XHTML. An attacker can craft SVG animation markup that slips past the library's filtering, so that a malicious javascript: link runs in a user's browser when they click it, potentially allowing theft of session data or actions performed on the victim's behalf.

DOMPurify before 3.4.17 contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows attackers to bypass the SMIL attributeName=href guard when PARSER_MEDIA_TYPE is application/xhtml+xml, because transformCaseFunc does not lowercase attribute names. Attackers can submit SVG with an animate or set element using attributeName="href" and a javascript: entry in values to execute script when users click the sanitized link.
