Summary
P-Net, an open-source PROFINET device stack used in industrial automation equipment, is affected by this vulnerability. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can send a specific read request that causes the device to hang in an endless loop, making it stop responding and causing a denial of service.
Summarized by anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5. Verify details against the original sources.
Read the original description
P-Net before 1.0.3 enters an infinite loop when handling a read request for the PDPortDataCheck record with subslot 0 (whole module). The loop over the ports never advanced to the next port, so the request never completes and the device stops responding. A remote unauthenticated attacker can use this to cause a denial of service.
