Summary

The Acadlix LMS plugin for WordPress, an online course and quiz tool, is affected by a flaw that lets people without proper access delete arbitrary files on the web server. An attacker who deletes critical files, such as the site's configuration file, could take over the site or run malicious code on the server.

Summarized by anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5. Verify details against the original sources.

Read the original description

The Acadlix LMS – AI Quiz Maker, Online Exam & Course Plugin for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the post_delete_assessment_file_by_id function in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.9. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php). The route's permission callback only verifies a generic wp_rest nonce that the plugin itself emits inside the public acadlixOptions JavaScript object on every frontend page, effectively reducing the authentication requirement to unauthenticated.
